The Center for Childhood and Youth Studies (CCYS) is dedicated to studying and advocating for the needs, interests, lives, and cultures of children and youth. On this blog, we reach out to the community, sharing our thoughts on these and related topics.
Faculty affiliated with CCYS come from the departments of Communications, Education, English, Interdisciplinary Studies, Nursing, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, Sport & Movement Science, and Theater & Speech Communication.
CCYS was originally founded in 1999 by sociology professor Yvonne Vissing as the Center for Child Studies. Today, it is located in Salem’s Horace Mann Laboratory School, an elementary school on the Salem State Campus.
